ORIGINAL TITLE: Notion et terme „périglaciaire"
Increasingly, authors are criticising the lack of precision in the term "periglacial" that was introduced by Lozinski; they simultaneously call for either its replacement with other definitions or for a more precise definition of the concept it encompasses. This article contains: (1) a review of the opinions of Boesch, Brochu, Nangeroni, Capello, Guillien, Smith and others; (2) the author's opinion, based on existing literature, concerning the specific characteristics of the periglacial morphogenetic environment; and (3) a justification for the need to apply a consistent terminology and the possibilities of maintaining the term "periglacial" in relation to the features of the geographical environment studied, the morphogenetic processes that develop there, and the definition of the landform type.
