The paper examines the role of wind processes in shaping Pleistocene periglacial deposits in Central Europe based on granulometric analysis and the degree of rounding of quartz grains. Aeolian and non-aeolian sediments from Poland, Hungary and the Danube plains are compared, showing regional differences in grain wear related to number of aeolian cycles, climatic conditions and relief. The study emphasises that, besides wind activity, frost and gravitational processes contributed significantly to grain rounding. Results indicate that, in the Pleistocene periglacial zone, aeolian action interacted closely with frost weathering and slope denudation processes.
