Abstract

The paper provides a geomorphological description of the terraced landscape and valleys around Fairbanks. It describes the landforms as altiplanation terraces. The area is compared geomorphologically to higher altitude areas in western Alaska, where such forms are much younger. It is concluded that the terraces are early to middle Quaternary in age and are believed to be the oldest yet reported.
