For authors
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
The journal follows the diamond open access model. This means that:
- publishing in the journal is free of charge for authors,
- the journal does not charge submission fees, peer-review or editorial fees, nor article processing charges (APC),
- all published content is freely accessible to readers worldwide.
The costs of running the journal (including the maintenance of the OJS publishing system, editorial services, DOI assignment, and digital archiving) are covered by:
- the Łódź Scientific Society as the publisher,
- ministerial grants and programmes supporting scholarly and publishing activities,
- partner institutions – primarily the University of Łódź and other academic centres that support the development and dissemination of the journal.
Licensing and Copyright
Starting from 2022, all articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. In previous years, articles were published under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. Information about the applicable license is provided with each individual article.
Authors retain full copyright to their works. By submitting a manuscript, authors grant the publisher a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish, archive, and disseminate the accepted version of the article. Authors may deposit the publisher’s final version (Version of Record) in institutional and subject repositories without embargo, in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 license.
Article Processing Time
The processing time from submission of the manuscript to the online publication of the article is approximately 8–9 months.
Plagiarism Screening
All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism checking. The editors use Crossref Similarity Check (powered by iThenticate) to ensure the originality of submissions.
Submissions - General information
Before submitting a manuscript, authors are kindly requested to familiarize themselves with the journal’s Publication Ethics and Malpractice Policy, including the rules concerning plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, and the responsibilities of Authors, Editors, and Reviewers.
Authors are also asked to read the journal’s Open Access Policy, which provides information on copyright, licensing, and archiving.

Author Information
Authors submitting their papers for the first time are asked to provide accurate personal data, academic degrees, affiliation (institution and unit), home address, and telephone number.
In order to avoid the phenomenon of ghostwriting and guest authorship, in the case of works written by more than one author all co-authors together with their affiliations should be clearly indicated.
Each author declares that the submitted manuscript presents the original results of their scientific work and does not infringe the rights of third parties (natural or legal persons). The author also declares that the paper has not been published elsewhere and is not currently under consideration by another publisher, regardless of the nature of the publication.
Article Requirements
The article should include:
- keywords,
- a short abstract (up to 800 characters including spaces) in Polish or English,
- a bibliography.
Preparation of the Text
Please observe the following rules when preparing the manuscript:
- a) the volume of the article should not exceed 30,000 characters (including spaces),
- b) titles of books and articles, as well as foreign language phrases, should be written in italics,
- c) quotations and titles of journals should be placed in quotation marks,
- d) emphasis in the text should be indicated using bold type.
Authors may use the traditional reference style when submitting the manuscript. However, since 2016 the journal uses the APA-WNUS reference system. After a manuscript has been accepted for publication, the author will receive detailed guidelines for adapting the footnotes to this system.
The editorial office does not return unsolicited manuscripts and reserves the right to introduce editorial changes and shortenings.
The journal “Meluzyna” allows authors to retain copyright to their works.
Footnotes and Abstracts
The editorial team expects manuscripts to be prepared in accordance with the APA-WNUS system (transformation of footnotes) according to the provided guidelines. Articles have been published in this system since 2016.
However, manuscripts prepared with a traditional footnote system may be submitted for review. After receiving a positive review and making the required revisions, the author is obliged to adapt the footnotes to the APA-WNUS system according to the provided guidelines.
