The study presents an analysis of Quaternary deposits in Central Yakutia, focusing on the genesis, structure and conditions of syngenetic permafrost formation. Facies and cryogenic investigations revealed that alluvial, lacustrine and shallow-basin deposits underwent deep freezing as early as the Middle Pleistocene, leading to the development of characteristic periglacial structures. The results confirm that the continuous presence of permafrost is a key feature of the region’s palaeogeography, with periglacial conditions prevailing during both glacial and interglacial periods of the Pleistocene.
