Pleistocene permafrost veins on Mount Skała

The domed summit of Mount Skała, composed of Lower Devonian quartzites, features well-developed Pleistocene periglacial structures, such as permafrost veins. Two generations can be distinguished, differing in the degree of disintegration of the material filling them. The older generation of veins most likely formed during the periglacial climate of the Middle-Polish Glaciation, while the younger generation formed during the periglacial zone of the Baltic (Vistulian) Glaciation.
