This note proposes a numerically based definition of the terms current (or active!) periglacial zone, fossil periglacial (or paleoperiglacial) zone, and periglacial phenomenon (or form). These definitions are intended in a very broad sense, so as not to exclude any periglacial phenomenon or form.
